It is with profound sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of our wife, mother and grandmother – Ana Andjelic.
Ana immigrated to Canada from Pula, Croatia in 1963, to build a new life. Ana quickly found employment at Decarrier Footwear in Toronto. This is where she met Ljubomir Andjelic as he was asked to translate at work as her English was limited.
During their time at Decarrier a courtship developed, and they married in 1966, They started their family with the arrival of Natalie and later their son Mike.
Ana was a very hard-working woman who took pride in everything she did, from her work at Exclusive Footwear for over 25 years to maintaining her Etobicoke home, especially the lawn and gardens. Ana was known for her wonderful cooking as they hosted many meals for family and friends during their lives in Etobicoke.
Ana enjoyed her early retirement years, traveling across Ontario with her husband Ljubomir where they would visit small towns have a picnic and stop at the local flea markets and or casino for some fun.
Ana spent several happy winters in Florida with her best friend Maria, prior to her illness.
Ana and Ljubomir shared their lives for 60 years, their home was always welcoming, filled with love and music even through the challenging times. Mum always said to Dad we didn’t have much in terms of material things, but we have a “happy life” and good children.
Ana was surrounded by the love of her children, Natalie (Michael), Mike (Jennifer) and grandchildren Tatiana and Milan who she deeply loved.
Ana was known for her loyal and feisty nature by all who loved her. Mum appreciated her special relationships with friends and family that supported her and never wavered during the difficult years of her illness.
Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to mums Palliative Doctor, Dr. Eric Grayson, his thoughtful, compassionate approach allowed our family to provide mum with the best care at home, which was her wish.
The family is thankful for the support of mum’s care team that consisted of Candy, Jian and Teme as it made mums daily life happy and comfortable.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your local Humane Society as Mum loved animals beyond measure or the Parkinsons Foundation.
As per Ana’s wishes the family will have a private burial at York Cemetery on Thursday March 21st, 2024 at 10am.
