In memory of

Alina Teresa Padhi

August 22, 1952 -  August 14, 2023

Alina Teresa Padhi was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Just shy of her 71st birthday, she passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on August 14, 2023 in Mississauga, Ontario. Alina was born in Poland on August 22, 1952.

As a young woman she immigrated to Canada where she met her soulmate Dhirendra Nath Padhi, whom she married in 1974. Together they had four children Anil, Anita, Suzanne and Emily. She graduated from Sheridan College with a diploma in Early Childhood Education, but decided to take care of her children and did not continue a career in that field.

Alina had an endearing personality, with an infectious laugh, and vivacious energy. She often lit up the room with her refreshing and unique sense of humor. Alina was a strong and strict mother, who loved her children very much and cared for them selflessly. She was a wonderful wife, who was always supportive of her husband. Alina always had the best interest of her husband and family in mind. While she put on a tough exterior and didn’t shy away from saying what was on her mind, she was truly a big softie at heart.

She loved singing Karaoke, reading, watching movies with her husband, playing slots on her IPad, and a good cup of coffee or tea. She was both a bright force and down-to-earth at same time.

Alina is survived by her husband of half a century, Dhirendra Nath; children, Anita, Suzanne, Emily; grandchildren, Devon, Jamie, Selene, Dylan, Matilda, great-grandchildren Amaya and Ariya. She will be greatly missed by all her family members and friends.

Alina was predeceased by her parents, Walburga and Jan, sibling Jan, and son Anil.

I will always remember Alina for her gracious hospitality and her eagerness to make sure everyone had lots to eat at her table. As the Mother of my daughter-in-law, Emily, we will certainly miss her presence at family gatherings. My condolences to the family, and hope that the memories they have of Alina will comfort them and brighten their spirits in those moments of grief.

No one can prepare us for the loss of a loved one. Sending my most heart felt sympathy to you and your family. Although I never met your mom I will always remember the way you spoke of her and all the great stories you told of her, it really showed the love you shared. She is now watching over you and always remember she loved you. Remember her with a smile because everytime she thinks of you she will do the same. May she rest in peace until you meet again.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden demise of Alina at such a young age. I would like to express my sincere condolences to my dear friend, Dhirendra Nath Padhi, Anita, Suzie, Emily, the grandchildren and the entire Padhi family, as well as her sister Lucy and a large circle of friends She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, who was very proud of her family and dedicated her life supporting them. She was always a very gracious host.

May the almighty give the whole family the courage and strength to cope with her untimely loss.

My sincere apologies to Nath and the family to being unable to attend the service and the funeral in person due to conflicting family commitments.

We will all miss her dearly!
