Loved the pics. I always adored this family even though we didn't get together all that much. Alice always came across to me as a gentle, loving soul. I especially appreciated that Uncle Mike would occasionally sneak me into concerts at the Varsity Arena & Stadium. Rest in peace Alice and hopefully we can cross paths again in your new heavenly world.
Thomas Craig and a friend Sam Davies emigrated From N. Ireland to work on a farm in Ontario.. Meanwhile, Southern Ireland Elizabeth Gayer also crossed the “pond” (Atlantic Ocean) to work off her boat fare with a Toronto family. This Irish lass from County Cork met snd Married a Belfast lad in 1926. Bessie and Tom came from large Irish families. Mtgeir first born, Robert Craig was bon in 1927. He was named after his Paternal Grandfather. Sibling #2 was a dark haired sweetheart named after her MaTernal Grandmother. Next came a son who was named after their father Tom Craig. Children were named to honour family members. I was last to be born.... June 1937. and was named Patricia, in honour of my Maternal Grandfather, Patrick Gayer, Modeligo. Fermoy.The patron saint of Ireland is St.Patrick. All seven of my Brothers nd sisters Were born at the Toronto General Hospital.Alice was the prettiest, the sweetest, the shortest of all the siblings. Bob and Tom will be greeting their little sister as part of Alice’s welcoming committee. Nancy, Marge, Sam and Pat are mourning the loss of our eldest sister.
Our family have fond memories of Alice coming to visit her N. Irish cousins, and staying with my Uncle - Robert McKay. Alice was a lovely gentle personality. Our sympathy to Shelley and Cindy and wider family circle.
