After a long and courageous battle against many health issues, Dr. Alfred Choo passed away on December 30th surrounded by his loving family.

Alfred was born in Panyu, Guangzhou, China. He emigrated to Guyana by way of Hong Kong before settling in Vancouver, BC. After graduating from UBC, he obtained his Ph.D. at York University. He married Carole in 1973 before following in his father’s footsteps as an entrepreneur. Alfred founded several businesses including VITA-TECH, and later the Chef 88 restaurants with his sons.

Alfred will be sorely missed by wife Carole, sons Stephen (Kate), Kevin (Diana), and daughter Karyn (Bobby), siblings Chuck, Richard (Juanita), Patricia (Ken) and grandchildren Kayla, Lauren, Brandon, Brayden, Sunny, Claire, Kelsey, Remy, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honour to Sunnybrook Foundation (Odette Cancer Centre).
