In memory of

Alexey Astashev

**Alexey Astashev (May 21, 1981 – June 5, 2025)**

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alexey Astashev on June 5, 2025, at the age of 44.

Born in Kiev, Ukraine, Alexey moved to Canada at the age of 18, driven by ambition and determination. A graduate of York University, he founded his own construction business at just 25 years old, becoming the youngest general contractor in Canada at that time. His entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic distinguished him early on, allowing him to build a lasting legacy in a field he loved.

Alexey was a man full of life, curiosity, and adventure. He traveled extensively, always eager to explore new places and cultures. A passionate yachtsman, he spent many cherished days at sea as a skilled captain. In winter, he embraced the thrill of skiing. He also had a deep love for food and found great joy in sharing meals and moments with those around him.

More than anything, Alexey was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his beloved wife, Darya, and their two daughters, Catherine and Maria, whom he loved beyond words. He is also survived by his loving mother, Svitlana, his father, Sergii, and his uncle, aunts, and cousins, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

Alexey's warmth, generosity, and sharp wit drew many people close to him.

He had a wide circle of friends, all of whom will remember his kindness, loyalty, and the joy he brought into their lives.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
