In Loving Memory of Alexander Vieira Martins
July 24, 1974 – May 4, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander Vieira Martins, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, who left us on May 4th, 2025, at the age of 50 after a courageous and relentless battle with cancer.

Alex was a man of unmatched determination, tireless work ethic, and a heart of gold. Born on July 24th, 1974, he was the foundation of his family and a guiding light of kindness to all who were fortunate to know him. For 20 beautiful years, he shared an unshakable bond of love and partnership with his wife, Charlene. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

A devoted father, Alex adored his two sons, Damian and Marcus. He instilled in them his values of perseverance, compassion, and integrity, always leading by example. Whether cheering from the hockey stands, providing thoughtful guidance, or simply being present, he was their greatest supporter and hero.

As the cherished firstborn son of Flavio and Eduarda Martins, and brother to Rick Martins, Alex was a pillar of strength and love for his family. His life was defined by deep loyalty, unwavering respect, and a profound sense of honour toward his family whom he held dear. Working proudly alongside his father, Flavio, Alex honed his skills and mastered his craft in the plumbing profession, where he was known not only for his expertise but also for his dedication and work ethic.

Alex was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone, whether it was offering a helping hand, lending a listening ear, or simply being there when needed most. His family and friends all knew they could always count on him.

He cherished every moment with his wife and children, finding happiness in life’s simple and meaningful moments together. Whether it was a casual gathering or a significant celebration, he cherished each occasion because family meant the most to him. He was at his happiest when enjoying time at the beach with his family, a beer in hand and a smile on his face, or in the hockey arena, passionately cheering on his boys as they played.

Alex was a man of tireless work ethic and unwavering determination, qualities that defined every aspect of his life. He took immense pride in his work and his home, pouring his heart into every project he undertook. Whether it was a task at his job or a renovation in the house, he approached it with meticulous care and an unrelenting drive to ensure it was done to perfection. Even in the face of his illness, Alex continued to dedicate himself to completing projects around the home, determined to leave a legacy of love, comfort, and stability for his family.

His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone who was privileged to know him. Though his time with us was far too short, his love, spirit, and unwavering strength will remain with us forever.

The family would like to acknowledge extreme gratitude to the Credit Valley Hospital Oncology and Palliative Care Units as well as Cancer Assistance Halton Hills for their tireless dedication to Alex and his family throughout his community care.

Visitations and funeral will be held in Alex’s honour at Meadowvale Funeral Centre on Monday, May 12th, 4-8pm, Tuesday, May 13th, 9-10am visitation. Funeral service will begin at 10am followed by graveside interment. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Cancer Assistance Halton Hills in his honor.

Rest in peace, Alex. You were the heart of our family and the light in our lives. Your strength, kindness, and love will guide us always.

I just wanted to take a moment to express my most sincere condolences at this time of Alex’s passing.
Alex began working with and for my Revive Contracting Team and I, 11 years ago, and quickly became an incredibly well liked guy on our projects and job sites. He was such a work-horse…we were all in awe of his strength and perseverance, and he never complained about the challenges that came with completing his often difficult work.
But more than that, it was his calm….his kindness and friendliness to everyone around him, and his willingness to help whoever with whatever was needed.

I will really, really miss Al. We particularly shared many conversations about the things we had in common….raising kids (in sport) and the complexities of working in family businesses with our fathers.

I feel very fortunate to have known Alex, and am incredibly grateful for the expertise he brought to all of our collaborated projects together., and the amazing finished products that were produced together.
He will be so missed, by so many.
