In memory of

Alexander "Alex" Henry Cavanaugh

November 4, 1972 -  August 3, 2021

Alexander “Alex” Henry Cavanaugh passed away suddenly on August 3rd 2021 of natural causes at his home in downtown Toronto. He was 48 years old.

Alex is survived by: his wife, Simin Issabiglou and his son Raadin Cavanaugh, both of Richmond Hill ON; his father, Robert Cavanaugh of Frederick MD; his mother, Penelope Wilkinson of Fort Mill SC; and his sisters Marion Cavanaugh of Fayetteville NC and Katy Cavanaugh of Montreal QC.

Alex was born on the 4th of November, 1972 in Toronto. By the time he finished high school, he had lived in seven different places in three countries. He attended St Michael’s College School (Toronto, ON) and the University of Toronto. It was during this time that he not only met most of his closest and dearest friends, but love of his hometown was cemented.

Alex loved his son Raadin and they had wonderful experiences and created memories that Raadin will cherish forever. They met Stan Lee together at Comic-Con and warred playing Fortnite. They went on camping trips, to Disney World and Curaçao. Each Christmas, Alex would fill the house with decorations, prepare a traditional meal and make sure that Raadin enjoyed the experiences that he had as a child himself.

Alex was a long-time employee of the Bennett-Jones law firm where he was Facilities and Office Services Manager. His work was always important to him, and his colleagues even more so. He was loyal to them, and tried to act as a champion for them. He respected them, was proud of their work, and enjoyed their company.

Alex will be interred at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Special thanks to all of the friends who offered their love and support to Alex’s family in their time of great sorrow. Especially the Issabiglou extended family, Joe Kratz, Emmy Palmer, Trajan Quinn, Adam Terejko, Shiobhan Walsh, and Reynaldo Diego.

Alex, you were such a good man. You worked so incredibly hard and you were so very loyal
You were brave. It breaks my heart that you couldn't find the happiness that you so rightfully deserved. You were so worthy of all the wonderful things that this world has to offer. I wish you had been given a chance to find peace and joy.
My heart breaks for you and I'll never understand why you had to go.
So unfair and I feel such profound sadness. You were so worthy of everything beautiful and happy.
No one can ever take your place. You were very special. I hope that some part of you knew that.
I pray with all my heart that your soul is at peace.
We'll never forget you.
