Alan was born in Dundee Scotland on December 14, 1946, he immigrated to Canada in 1948 with his Mother and older Sister aboard the ship Aquitania, arriving in in Halifax Harbour November 17, 1948, just short of his second birthday. Alan and his Cousin Billy caused a few problems when they were quite young, spray painting old cars and rolling garbage cans down Dufferin Street, He was fond of bringing stray cats and dogs leaving them with his Mother.
Alan liked to have a good time when he was younger but settled down not saying a lot after he got married. Alan’s passion was golf and he played as often as he could at several courses with his golfing buddies, and with Pauline. Alan also liked working with his hands and completed several home projects.

It is with heavy hearts that we are called together today, and on behalf of the children, I’d like to send hugs and kisses to Aunt Pauline, Granny, and Auntie Anne. We always knew Uncle Al to be a quiet but a strong man. He was endlessly generous to all of us over the years. Between him and Auntie Anne, Family Christmases were never complete without the seemingly accidental retelling of hilarious moments past – many of which I don’t think we were actually supposed to know… While I’m terribly sorry I can’t be there with you today, I am glad to know that there are so many wonderful people present to celebrate his life and remember the kind and thoughtful man Uncle Al was.

All my Love,
Hillary Cruise
