In memory of

Aino Oja

June 8, 1927 -  October 24, 2016

With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mother. Predeceased by her first husband Edmund Sirelpuu, daughter Milvi (McKay) and son Edgar, and 2nd husband Eduard Oja. Aino is survived by her sons, Ilmar (Kathy ) and Harry. She was a grandmother of 6 and great grandmother of 8. Fleeing your beloved country of Estonia to Sweden when the Russians invaded in WWII, you finally made your way to Canada in a very small boat. Keeping your roots of Estonia in your heart, but becoming a proud Canadian citizen. Thank you to the nurses, volunteers, PSW’s at Peel Manor, your hard work and dedication didn’t go unnoticed. “Busy hands are now at rest.” Visitation will take place at the YORK FUNERAL CENTRE, 160 Beecroft Rd., Toronto (north of Sheppard, west of Yonge St., 416-221-3404) on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at York Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Alzheimer’s Society, Arthritis Society or the Canadian Cancer Society. For more information please visit www.etouch.ca

Dearest Aino was like another mother to me especially up to my late teens. We never lost touch & I was fortunate to speak with her just a few weeks ago. She was always a shoulder for me especially after my mom, her school days & oldest friend, passed away last year. In our hearts and prayers for ever. Our deepest condolences to Ilmar & Kathy & Harry as well as all the grand children and great grand children and families.

I was so sorry to hear of her passing. I have many fond memories of growing up and spending time with my father (Jaan) and grandparents (Astrid and Eduard)'s close friends/second family. Our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.
