Senga was educated at Greenock High and excelled in the rigorous Academic program the school offered. She was forever grateful for the education she received. She was a champion Highland dancer & field hockey player.
Senga immigrated with her sister Sally to Canada in 1951 to escape the hardships of post WWII Britain. She was a Scot at heart and very proud of her Scottish heritage, but embraced her new life in Canada and the opportunities it afforded her and her family. She was a very proud Canadian too.
After raising her family, Senga went to work at the newly opened Seneca College, Sheppard Campus, in the Counselling Department. She loved her work, the people she worked with and the interaction with the students. She remained at the College until her retirement and post retirement kept in touch with her former colleagues who had become friends.
Senga was widowed shortly after retiring but enjoyed her time doing what she loved to do, reading, puttering in the garden, and running daily errands with Sally. She loved hosting and helping Sally prepare Sunday dinners for family and friends. We are all grateful for the fabulous meals we enjoyed and were blessed that the tradition continued for as long as it did.
Senga lived in her home until the age of 93 and spent her last years at Forestview Retirement Residence in North York.
Special thanks to Mom’s very supportive team at Baycrest who helped us negotiate living with Alzheimer’s.
Thanks to everyone at Forestview Retirement Residence for keeping Mom happy, healthy and engaged.
And heartfelt thanks to Mom’s extraordinary team of PSWs: Babes, Dawn, Dolores, Jennifer, Isabel, Rosa & Sheena for their loving care and companionship. An independent life for her would not have been possible without them.
As per Senga’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date.
