Aida del Rosario de Guzman
August 8, 1941 – July 14, 2025
It is with great sadness, we announce that on July 14, 2025, Aida de Guzman passed away peacefully at Faith Manor in Brampton, Ontario, with the same quiet strength she showed throughout her life. She was just shy of her 84th birthday.
Born in Manila, Philippines, to Jose and Caridad del Rosario, Aida (pronounced “Ida”) was the second of four spirited siblings - following her big sister Ludy and paving the way for her younger brothers, Johnny and Emmanuel.
She married her devoted husband Renato and together they shared 57 years of partnership, loyalty, and lots of laughter. They were inseparable - a true team through life’s highs and lows - and frequent flyers to Las Vegas, where they traveled 22 times. Her game? Penny slots. Her vibe? Buffets.
Together, they built a life rooted in love and loyalty, raising four children: Janet (John), Dino (Cathy), Ray (Robin), and Josephine (Stefano). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Adam, Eric, and Nicholas.
After completing a secretarial administration program at the University of the East in Manila - where she developed a lightning-fast typing speed of 100 words per minute - Aida alone with two babies, bravely moved across the world to Canada in 1971 to join her husband who had gone ahead. There, she made her mark at Ontario Hydro, working for 20 years as an executive assistant in the hustle and bustle of downtown Toronto. Known for her sharp memory, brisk efficiency, and as the person who kept things moving, she was admired by colleagues and beloved by many. Like her presence, her retirement party was both big and touching.
Aida didn’t chase hobbies - she chased connection. She learned people’s names, tipped generously, and was especially kind to restaurant and service staff.
She was also a true Toronto sports fan - never missing a Leafs or Blue Jays game, even when they tested her patience.
Aida’s legacy is one of fierce love, honesty, and quiet bravery. She leaves behind a family that knew exactly where they stood with her - loved completely and without condition.
Our family would like to thank the caring staff at Faith Manor nursing home for taking good care of our Mom with compassion and dignity in her final years.
In her memory, take a senior you love out to eat, learn your server’s name, and tip generously. Mom would have liked that.
